About Hennessy VS Cognac
Hennessy VS Cognac is a bold and vibrant expression from one of the world’s most recognised Cognac houses. Rich fruit, warming spice, vanilla and toasted oak come together in a characterful style that is smooth enough to enjoy neat yet robust enough to shine in cocktails.
The House of Hennessy was founded in 1765 by Richard Hennessy, an Irishman who settled in the Cognac region of France after serving in the French Army. From those beginnings, Hennessy developed into one of the defining names in Cognac, building a reputation that has endured for more than 250 years.
VS stands for Very Special, with the youngest eau-de-vie in the blend matured for at least two years in oak. Hennessy VS brings together carefully selected eaux-de-vie before maturation in French oak develops the spirit’s distinctive combination of fruit, vanilla, spice and toasted wood.
The result is a lively and versatile Cognac with plenty of depth without becoming overly heavy. Its generous character makes it approachable for someone discovering Cognac for the first time, while its richness and structure make it equally suited to classic and contemporary mixed drinks.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Toasted oak, fresh fruit and vanilla with warm baking spice.
Palate: Rich fruit and caramel with vanilla, gentle pepper spice and well-balanced oak.
Finish: Smooth and warming with lingering spice, vanilla and toasted oak.
Perfect Serve
Enjoy Hennessy VS neat or over ice to experience its rich fruit, spice and oak character.
For a refreshing longer serve, pour 50ml over ice, top with premium ginger ale and garnish with a wedge of lime or orange. Its bold character also works beautifully in a classic Sidecar, where the Cognac is balanced with orange liqueur and fresh lemon juice.
