A Legacy Since 1765

The House of Hennessy was founded in 1765 by Richard Hennessy, an Irish military officer who settled in the Cognac region of France after serving in the French Army.

His vision was to produce Cognac of exceptional quality, and over the centuries Hennessy has grown into the world’s largest Cognac producer, exporting to more than 160 countries while remaining one of the defining names in luxury spirits.

The Craft Behind Hennessy VS

VS stands for “Very Special,” meaning the youngest eau-de-vie in the blend has been matured for at least two years in French oak barrels.

Hennessy VS is created from a carefully selected blend of around 40 eaux-de-vie sourced from some of Cognac’s finest growing areas. Maturation in new French oak barrels gives the spirit its signature richness, balancing vibrant fruit with notes of vanilla, toasted oak, and gentle spice.

The result is a bold yet approachable Cognac that has become a favourite with both traditional Cognac drinkers and modern cocktail enthusiasts.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Toasted oak, fresh grapes, vanilla, and warm baking spice.

Palate: Rich fruit, caramel, vanilla, gentle pepper spice, and well-balanced oak.

Finish: Long, smooth, and warming with lingering spice, vanilla, and toasted oak.

Hennessy VS is wonderfully versatile and can be enjoyed neat, over ice, or with a splash of water to reveal its layered aromas.

For a refreshing long serve, pour 50ml over ice, top with premium ginger ale, and garnish with a wedge of lime or orange.
