Mermaid Zest Gin is a vibrant citrus-led premium gin crafted by the Isle of Wight Distillery, combining sustainably sourced botanicals with the fresh coastal character that defines the award-winning Mermaid range. Inspired by the island’s dramatic coastline, it delivers bright citrus flavours balanced by delicate herbs and classic juniper.

Created by founders Xavier Baker and Conrad Gauntlett, Mermaid Zest Gin builds upon the original Mermaid Gin recipe while celebrating the Isle of Wight’s rich natural landscape and maritime heritage. Every bottle reflects the distillery’s commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability and exceptional flavour.

The Mermaid name takes inspiration from one of the distillery’s signature botanicals — rock samphire. Growing naturally along the island’s chalk cliffs, this resilient coastal plant was traditionally known by sailors as “Mermaid’s Kiss”, signalling that land was close after long sea voyages.

Launched in 2022, Mermaid Zest Gin introduces a refreshing citrus twist with grapefruit, lemon zest and rare island bergamot. The gin has a unique connection to Osborne House, the former seaside residence of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, where citrus fruits grown within the historic Victorian gardens are carefully harvested for distillation.

Distilled slowly in the Isle of Wight Distillery’s copper column still, Margo, the gin combines vibrant citrus with coastal botanicals including rosemary and Cascade hops. The result is a beautifully balanced spirit with bright grapefruit, sweet citrus, gentle herbal notes and a refreshing finish reminiscent of fresh sea air.

Presented in Mermaid’s iconic scale-textured bottle, inspired by a mermaid’s tail and the surrounding ocean, the design reflects the brand’s deep connection with the coastline. The bottle is plastic-free, fitted with a natural cork closure and produced using environmentally conscious materials. As a certified B Corp, the Isle of Wight Distillery continues to support marine conservation projects, including the restoration of endangered seagrass meadows around the island.
