Originally introduced in 1997 as Johnnie Walker Pure Malt, the expression was created by Master Blender Dr Jim Beveridge to showcase the depth and complexity that can only be achieved by expertly blending mature single malts. Renamed Johnnie Walker Green Label in 2004, it has become one of the most respected whiskies in the range.

Unlike traditional blended Scotch whiskies, Green Label combines only carefully selected single malts. Talisker contributes maritime character and gentle peppery smoke, Caol Ila adds coastal peat and depth, Cragganmore delivers rich sweetness and complexity, while Linkwood provides fresh orchard fruit and delicate floral notes. Together they create a whisky of remarkable harmony and balance.

When production was discontinued in many markets during 2012, whisky enthusiasts voiced their disappointment, recognising Green Label as one of the finest blended malts available. Its enduring popularity ultimately led to its return, preserving both its 15-year age statement and its original character for a new generation of whisky lovers.
