Introduced in 2016, Diplomático Planas replaced the brand’s Blanco Reserva expression, showcasing the craftsmanship normally associated with darker aged rums. Named after the Planas Valley in Venezuela, near the foothills of the Andes Mountains, the rum reflects the region’s ideal rum-making conditions. Diplomático Planas is produced using a combination of column still, batch kettle and pot still distillation before being matured in oak casks for up to six years. Following maturation, the rum undergoes careful charcoal filtration to remove its colour while preserving the smooth texture, rich aromas and layered complexity developed during ageing.
