Mermaid Gin is a beautifully crafted contemporary London Dry Gin produced by the Isle of Wight Distillery, combining ten carefully selected botanicals with the fresh coastal character that defines the island. Inspired by the Isle of Wight’s dramatic coastline, maritime folklore and natural landscape, it delivers exceptional smoothness, vibrant citrus and elegant botanical complexity. 

Created by founders Xavier Baker and Conrad Gauntlett, Mermaid Gin was first distilled in 2014 as the flagship expression of the Isle of Wight Distillery. Their vision was to create a premium British gin that reflected both the island’s unique environment and their commitment to sustainable distilling.

At the heart of Mermaid Gin is locally foraged rock samphire, an aromatic coastal plant traditionally known as “Mermaid’s Kiss”. Growing naturally along the island’s cliffs above the high-tide line, it has long been associated with sailors returning safely to shore and has become the signature botanical that gives Mermaid Gin its distinctive maritime identity.

Distilled in small batches, Mermaid Gin combines classic juniper with ten botanicals including rock samphire, Isle of Wight elderflower, Boadicea hops, organic lemon zest, coriander seed, angelica root, liquorice root, orris root and grains of paradise. Together they create a beautifully balanced London Dry Gin with bright citrus freshness, gentle floral notes and subtle coastal minerality.

The iconic scale-textured bottle is inspired by a mermaid’s tail and the surrounding sea. Completely plastic-free and finished with a natural cork closure, it reflects the Isle of Wight Distillery’s commitment to sustainability and marine conservation while creating one of the most recognisable bottles in British gin.
